Hi I’m new here, just been diagnosed yesterday with hep c but apparently doctor thinks I could of caught it from when I was a teenager, I’m now in my mid fifties and so I would or could of had it for around 37 years, I dunno as had scan done and thankfully have no scarring on my liver so now been referred to the hospital, anyone else here had it for such a long time with no real damage done, I also when I was 21 did see a specialist due to elevated enszmes but I’m sure I was tested then for hepatitis and all was negative, I’m confused.com

Hi there..
I was diagnosed in July 2021.
Apparently I must have caught it 20 plus years ago as well.
I am waiting for my hospital appointments to hopefully stat treatment too.
Glad to hear your scan didnt show any abnormality.
Hope your hospital appointment will come soon.
Yes i know ive had it since mid 1980s im 59 ive no damage to my liver after a scan last year i hve been very unwell though for long periods of time plus my doctors never thought fit to tell me first flare up id of been around age 40 and was extremely unwell for almost 6 years it disappeared as fast as it appeared and was fine for 12 years when the symptons id previously suffered returned in november last year, i suffer extreme exhaustion, nausea, swelling of my legs and stomach and i get headaches too, id been trying to get blood test but due to pandemic its taken 5 months i asked my doctor in January could this all be to do with hep c he said i was ammune to it so no but sure enough ive had another reactive result and in my notes at doctors its saying the doc called me last saturday to discuss it, no one called me and i only found out as i had to have another blood count and i asked the nurse what result did i get with hep c test she sed positive , ive complained to my doctors mainly to see why no doctor as ever told me about these results past or present and surely i need treatment, im so weak and tired its making me not what to go on.
