I'm 2 months pregnant and went for a regular appointment and got told I have hep C... Idk what to say or do. I'm literally dumbfounded. I can't tell anyone but my husband. What is going to happen?
Diagnosed with hep C today...: I'm... - Hepatitis C Trust
Diagnosed with hep C today...
Dont worry at all. There is treatment available now which is almost gauranteed to cure hep c within 8 weeks you just take 1 tablet a day for 8 weeks and you will no longer have hep c .I used to have hepc and now after treatment i no longer have it
I was diagnosed 8 weeks ago . I think I may have had it for 20 years . You will be referred to the hospital. I had my fibroscan today result 4.5 which is normal liver . I will be put on treatment in the next few weeks for 8 weeks with an outlook of clearing completely. Don't worry there is treatment and all being well with the liver put it behind you . Take care x
Glad to hear about your fibroscan result.
I am waiting for my appointment for the same.
Hope its not a loong wait..
Thanks . Im still waiting to get on the treatment I'm told the medication is on order and should be about a fortnight.
Great.
Just wanted to get a rough idea of the steps and timelines.
Is it something like this?
First appointment with hepatology doc - more blood tests - letter with fibroscan appointment - further appointment to discuss medications - waiting for medications?
Whats the timeframe between those steps?
All the best.
Yes that's about it. I met with the hepotology doctor and also had the fibroscan at the same time . This was about 6 weeks after my doctor first referred me . They then took more bloods for the type of hep c this then let's them know which medication to put you on . I was told that would be 2 weeks for the results but in the end it took 5 weeks . They came in last week so now the medication is on order I have been told 2 to 3 weeks but I'm expecting it to be longer . So I will keep you posted . Also if you contact the Hep C trust I have found them invaluable all staffed by folks that have gone through this . Good luck to you .
Are you int he UK?
If so you will be referred to hepatology for an appointment with a specialist.
Its them who can order blood tests to check for genotype, fibroscans etc.
