Many years ago my blood tests often had to be repeated at the pathology lab because the first and second samples had set solid in transit before testing. I was told it was because I had sticky blood. Last week I saw a cardiologist who initially wanted me to take blood thinners, but as I only scored 1 on some sort of scale, and that was because I'm over 65 I don't need to. When I told him about being told I had sticky blood, he said there was no such thing, and put me down to having a two wire pacemaker. I watched a programme on A and E in Stoke hospital and definitely heard a consultant say to camera that his patient had sticky blood, which makes me wonder, whether I do or not. Having spent 19 days in Stoke hospital for a massive bleed on the brain, and then with subsequent MRI s showing subdural hematomas I'm not sure if I should have a pacemaker, and if I do will it be MRI safe?

The Pacemaker is to of course keep the heart in rhythm, not effect the blood, unless you have an abnormal rhythm, then it could reduce chance of a blood clot.
Re MRI , not sure, though they do ask about these things before going ahead.
It is indeed a thing: The immune system produces abnormal blood proteins called antiphospholipid antibodies, which cause blood platelets to clump together. Hughes syndrome is sometimes called 'sticky blood syndrome' because people with this condition are more likely to form clots in blood vessels (thromboses).
