When I get a missed beat or similar I feel it briefly and usually makes me feel off for a while afterwards.Thing is I always know when I’ve had a little flutter or similar because soon after I become gassy and definitely I burp not long after the effect.
Does anyone else experience this is it normal or am I worrying for nothing.I do worry and get scared after a missed beat.
I take flecainde and verapamil last few years.
Thank you everyone from Marty.

Hi Marty I don’t really know but there seems to be a link sometimes between ectopics and the vagus nerve. Have heard some people say ectopics are worse after eating. May be worth researching? So much we don’t know about ectopics! Best wishes
I have heard of that I’ll do a little bit more research but there’s definitely something funny going on I don’t mind a bit of burping and gas but I hate the way it makes me feel sort of lightheaded.
Marty, this sounds like Roemheld Syndrome which many of us have here. Look it up. I get it from eating too quickly, fizzy drinks, sipping hot tea, talking a lot. Basically swallowing air.
Thank you that sounds interesting I’ll look it up but I do think there’s a connection between my missed beat and then feeling off afterwards and I know I’ve had the missed beat because of the gas and burping.
Hi Marty, according to my cardiologists, ectopics are very common and happen to almost everyone on a daily basis. They also say they are harmless. For folks like you and me, however, they are scary and disruptive. Mine are also tied to indigestion, and have led to svt incidents ( elevated heart rate). I too am on meds for the missed beats, but have always carried chewable antacids with me to thwart ectopics and also svt issues. As Jonp stated, you could be suffering from Roemheld syndrome, it is worth looking into, I did. What has been working for me is taking magnesium glycinate supplements. Look up magnesium deficiency and see if your symptoms match. And also you can check out famous cardiologist Sanjay Gupta on YouTube talking about ectopics and magnesium supplements. As always, check with your doc before starting any supplememts. Good luck, I hope you find something that works for you so this stops disrupting your life. Ryan
Thanks Ryan I’ll talk to the cardiologist about magnesium glycinate supplements and see if that helps. The main thing for me is the way it makes me feel after the missed beat I feel drained and a kind of spacey feeling in the head which makes me feel really strange and tired for quite a long time after the episode. Really gets me down and I do find it a little scary also.
Thank you so much for reaching out I so appreciate hearing from others in a similar position.
Hi Ryan I agree with everything you have said as I’ve been a suffer of ectopic beats for over 30years .. I’ve watch Dr.Gupta videos , his very good.. plus I’ve been taking Magnesium Taurate for quite a few months now and it’s definitely help me , although last couple of day had fluttering where my heart stops for few seconds.. it’s horrible , thought about getting checked out for the umpteenth time !! I think it’s the heat though .

Hi Marty I feel your pain 😉 I’ve has ectopic beats since I was 30 Iam now coming up 70 😫 had umpteenth tests over the years at Barts hospital , always tell me it’s not dangerous, could be stress .. but it is so scary when they are constant especially for me when I go to bed … but I watch DR. Gupta on YouTube like Ryan said underneath and I’ve been taking magnesium taurate which is best for your heart and I can honestly say I’ve been so much better, especially when I go to bed 🙏🏻 I have had a couple of flutters where my heart has stopped for few seconds and I feel like the bloods not gone to my head and Iam going to black out it’s awful feeling !! I have felt like I should speak to my GP but the way the NHS is a the moment I don’t think I will get sent anywhere !!
I was given Flecainide years ago which I took , they did help a bit. But I was told not to take them only when I was having an episode.. I have got a box for just in case but never used them .
Perhaps try magnesium taurate , takes about a month to kick in !
Thank you Sue for all that great advice I will try magnesium taurate it’s sounds like it may really help.I'm lucky as I don’t get ectopics all the time but when I do they make me feel dreadful and spacey and very tired.I really love this community so helpful. Regards Marty.
