Children are now back to school with so many new sporting activities, such as football, rugby, hockey, netball on their timetable.
Do you know if your child's school has access to an AED (automated external defibrillator) The likelihood of pupils, teachers and visitors surviving a cardiac arrest is increased if CPR and an AED are used in conjunction with each other.

Thank you Sam. I certainly needed to read about using an AED and didn't know that it wont work unless a shock is needed, so you can't harm anyone.
I think my nearest one in my town is outside our public library but I will check now.
I intend reminding the staff at the National Trust property where I volunteer (they have and AED) that we need to have a practice and I'll volunteer to be the one needing help. Trouble with me is I can get very emotional in these type of situations but fortunately it soon passes. I've watched a trained nurse I know respond to an emergency, she was amazing. She knelt by the person, then bent low and smiled and talked kindly and gently, telling them help was on the way etc.
