Would any of you be concerned over a 10/-12 beat run of atrial ectopics with no break? Or have any idea of a cause for this?
My loop recorder is picking up more and more runs like this but my letters from cardiology simply say ‘we will continue to remotely monitor’. Not at all helpful! Especially as I’m concerned these runs increasing in frequency, particularly when I lie on my right side.
Thank you 😊

You are being monitored so I would try not to worry too much even though most of us do.
I had a bout of multiple atrial ectopic s when out last week which stopped me in my tracks and lasted a few hours. I only knew for sure what they were as I made 30 second recordings on my Kardia device and had them analysed.
As far as lying on your right side goes....try a different position..wherever you feel more comfortable. Perhaps propped up on your back?
We are told that ectopic beats are generally harmless. You may like to view Dr Sanjay Gupta s video on YouTube on the subject of ectopics
Many thanks for your reply. I think because they are happening in longer runs more frequently I am more unnerved. I always think there has to be a reason for a change/symptom but maybe I am paranoid.
Thank you for the vid recommendation, I recently saw those and thought they were very good.
Sounds like atrial fibrillation ramping up. Mine started with occasional runs and flutters that progressed to longer and longer bouts that within a year had become full on persistent atrial fibrillation, correctable only with ablation. Getting to an EP (electrophysioligist) sooner than later should be a priority!
Well, in my own experience, those runs were the preview to what was diagnosed as afib as they became longer and finally persistent/permanent. I don't know at what point they become officially afib, but I do know, the sooner it is diagnosed and treated, the better the long range outcome. If you can get to an EP, that's your best bet for sorting out both diagnosis and treatment. They know so much more about it than a GP or even most regular cardiologists. I'm glad I didn't wait any longer than I did because my symptoms progressed very rapidly.
I have what are termed 'atrial runs' and I think these are types of ectopics. They sound similar to yours. I have had these for years now. I have had longer runs of svt but these runs are less than 30 beats and apparently bwcause of this they are not considered of any importance. Of course they are to me!
