bisoprolol for ventricles?
Hi, I am quite ancient! But my 1.25 Bisoprolol taken daily has controlled my PVCs well (according to my handheld monitor). In fact some days I have none. I am not tachycardic but it did reduce my heart rate initially by about 15 bpm to the point of bradycardia, which is not unusual. It has since gone up. Thus it has worked for me. I have no heart disease and do not feel them. I hope it will help you and I am sure it will.
Hi there,I took Bisoprolol for VT and PVC, it helped me control all of the above as I was waiting for my ablation. I was also placed on flecaneide which also helped the chest pain.
I am now nearly 12 months post ablation, and I am off flecaneide and just dropped the final Bisoprolol.
I was originally on 10 mg. I wasn’t able to exercise apart from walking, as my vt was exercise induced.
Hope you get on well with Bisoprolol and it controls your condition.
I am 46, and had my diagnosis 18 months ago.
Hi can I ask where about the PVCs where coming from and how did you find the ablation ? I have multifocal PVCs from the left ventricle I’m in 10MG of Nebivalol and 50mg twice daily which have helped but not completely got rid of them. I have a consultation with my EP in June to decide whether to go through with an ablation.
Hi there,
Sorry for the delay in replying.
I don’t know what my ecg readings were specifically- non sustained vt was the diagnosis. They were coming from
the right ventricle outflow tract, when I had the electro physiological study this was confirmed. They came from the septum between the left and right ventricle.
To be honest, I followed the advice of the cardiologist, who referred me immediately to an electrophysiologist - whatever the readings were concerned them. This was even before I started taking Bisoprolol and the cardiologist sent the prescription straight to my home address.
The ablation was an interesting experience, they struggled to get enough ectopic beats and had to do quite a bit of stimulating, that was by far the weirdest bit - mildly uncomfortable but not painful. They were confident to continue and zapped some cells. At the time, they were unsure of its success, which probably knocked my confidence.
My ECG in November showed minimal ectopic beats, ten over 48 hours, no runs of vt and I think no pvcs. That was enough for them to wean me off all meds and permission to increase my exercise regime.
A year on post ablation, still feeling fatigued etc but I have also been diagnosed with long covid, I think the symptoms of fatigue are now more likely to be because of that.
It is a daunting decision, and I’m sure the cardiologist will weigh up the pros and cons.
Hope this helps with your decision.
Take care.
