Hi, I just wanted to know if anyone has had experience with weird side affects from bisoprolol? I’m only on 1.25mg but I’m only 22 And if small frame, iv been on these for five months now and never seemed to have a problem apart from hands changing colour and minor side affects.
The last week or so iv been having really unusual palpitations that are quite strong and make me feel slightly light headed and my eyesight is generally affected, chest pressure and feel tired also my tummy feels slightly sickly after I eat, and very slight breathlessness, I went to a&e two days ago because of this, ecg, chest X-ray, and bloods were all normal, so I’m very confused to why I’m feeling so weak😕

Yes I had bad side effects, my breathing felt restricted, cold feet, dizzy and no energy. My heartbeat and blood pressure was so low also. I have Svt,ectopics and mitral valve leak, I came off them in March and deciding whether I want an ablation.
Yes most people get them to one degree or another. I am now on 7.5 mg as over the years (20 years) your body gets use to the drug and it has to be incrementally increased to maintain its effect. Your body will acclimatise to the drug and the side effects will probably be minimal or not noticeable (probably no side effects). In my case after around 14 days following dose increase I have no side effects, this can take up to 6 weeks for some. If your side effects are bad try starting with half the dose for a week (at night time if you have really bad side effects), then progress to taking the medication at morning time. The one warning I will offer is if your heart rate falls below 50 bpm see your doctor, if it falls below 40 stop talking the medication and see your doctor immediately.
Yes I’ve been on 1.25 mg since January and have felt awful constantly. Extreme fatigue, cold, weight gain, dizziness and weirdest of all my bones constantly making cracking noise and achy joints and muscles. Saw my GP yesterday and he advised me to stop them as he said some people are more sensitive to beta blockers than others and I must be one of them. The fact that I had been taking them for 4 months with side effects still very evident meant they weren’t going to improve. I have long standing SVT and developed a bigeminy arrhythmia in January post Flu Virus and now had PVC’s which they think are right ventricle in origin. My GP has said to see how I go over next few weeks and see if side effects (particularly the chronic fatigue) improve before looking at alternative treatment if I need it. Because I was only on 1.25 mg I could just stop so haven’t had one now for 2 days and touch wood have only had a few jumps and skips intermittently
My ectopics were worse on bisoprolol, all day. Now I get the odd one here and there. After having a bad attack of svt,197 beats a minute, Monday night I ,ve been feeling unwell.
I was put on Bis originally and after the same side effects as you I talked to my Dr and he switched me to Flecainide, a rhythm drug, vs Bis which s a rate reducer.
My V fib and SVT both went away . Still get randome beats but doc said was no big deal.
