Hello - I'm being prescribed 2.5 mg of Bisoprolol at 8AM and then again at 8PM each day. I am having many nights of regular insomnia because of the beta blocker and wondered if there is any reason not to make this one does of 5 mg taken in the morning, or move to taking the two doses earlier in the day? Anyone have any experience? As ever, many thanks!

Dosage and frequency of taking Bisoprolol
Many people do not tolerate Bisoprolol very well, my own experience taking 2.5mg in the morning was one of disturbed sleep patterns, tiredness & a lowering of an already slow heart rate to as low 32 bpm, it was reduced to 1.25mg with little improvement. I am now off meds while awaiting a pacemaker implant in weeks!
I think your best way forward is to discuss it with your GP or EP best wishes I hope you can resolve it!
Those restless nights are pure hell I just used to get up & find something to do, being retired it doesn't matter much to me, but for anyone who has to work I feel for you all.
Depends how long you have been on Bisoprolol,if recent then it might settle. It normally is taken AM unless otherwise advised.
I take 2.5 AM and 1.25Mg evenings and yes I suffer with insomnia though I have been on the 2.5Mg a few years without problems so do not blame it.
When I started it,the only thing at first was tiredness around 1600 but that passed.
I'd talk to my cardiologist before I would change anything. It's possible that you can take them earlier. Hope things get straightened out
