Dear all , I was hoping that somebody might be able to help, or had a similar experience? I had an ablation for AVNRT which was deemed successful during the EP. However I had an SVT episode 11 weeks later, obviously I’m gutted if the procedure hasn’t worked, is it possible that there is still a chance of it working at this late stage?

Hi my daughter had an ablation in December she has had a few episodes of a raised heartrate but the surgeon said this is normal but if you have gone into full svt as in over 180bpm than unfortunately the procedure has not been successful. Did you catch the event on a monitor of some sort? If you did I'd contact you specialist to inform him as you may need to go back on medication if you were previously on it
Thanks so much for replying, I hope your daughter is doing well and feeling better.I didn’t catch my episode on a monitor but it was the old distinctive fast strong loop although this time it went away on its own without me doing vasalva. I’m back on medication as I couldn’t risk it happening at work. Will try to come off meds again in a few weeks and see what’s going on underneath, thanks again X
AVNRT is a type of SVT yet you differentiate in your post, does this mean it was a different type of arythmia? If so then I would say your recovering and probably your chance of success is good. If it was the same as before then it's around 50/50 so there is still a fair chance of the ablation being a success. I would speak to the Doc.
Thankyou so much for replying, there is a lot of differing advice out there with regard to healing time. I didn’t mean to differentiate in my post, was just referring to an AVNRT episode, same as before the ablation, although not as intense. Spoke to nurse who couldn’t really reassure me, just said we would give it some more time before thinking about going back into the lab. On meds but need to come off again and do an as needed approach, hard to lose that safety net. Thanks so much for your time, hope you are doing well X
Was the attack not as bad as usual ? Sometimes ablation , half works . I had my ablation in 2013 and have had ectopic for a few seconds but no runs of svt and I’ve been kept on verapamil
I terrified too as I’m told it can come back

Don’t be despondent as I’ve definately had bits of jumping around in chest but was warned this is normal and to ignore it
I got tachycardia a lot after but the registrar told me to relax and it would only get better . I’ve got this feeling your going to be fine !

I have had two ablations for AVNRT, just found out the second one did not work either and it also left me with third degree heart block and a pacemaker.
Try not to worry and only speaking from personal experience but I had an ablation for AVNRT two years ago. I took a long time to recover but things are much better but I do get occasional bouts of inappropriate sinus tachycardia. Reassuring that I do not go into SVT again.

Hi, according to my cardiologist it can take anything upwards of a year for the heart to adjust and settle. Even though they may not have gotten all of it (same in my case), it might not be clear what the 'new normal' for your heart is for a little while.
Hi! Any updates? I had AVNRT ablation in 2020 and this month it started again! 
hi Dotore, I hope you are doing ok love and don’t be despondent if you’ve had another blip, for me it took at least a year after the ablation to settle and even 4 years later I still have moments of unnatural out of nowhere increased heart rate which passes and if it’s going on too long I take 10 mg of Propranolol which dilutes it, but nothing like as bad or debilitating as they were before.For me the ablation has 95% helped and though there are the odd moments, and I’ve had some recently , but generally when I’m very tired or under pressure, I’m generally still thinking of Professor Richard Schilling who did my ablation as some sort of knight in shining armour as life is so much better. So don’t give up hope, try to relax and look after yourself and if it carries on talk to your GP to get referred again, or at least a ‘pill in your pocket’ to counter fear and cut short an episode.
