Bisoprolol

I have finally agreed to try Bisoprolol for my ectopic heartbeats. I was wondering if anybody has used bisoprolol for this and how long it took effect? I’ve only started it today so know I need to give it time. Thanks

Hi, I took bisoprolol for something else. I was quite sensitive to it so it worked right away, I'm sure if you don't feel an effect then you can go to the GP to see if it was possible to increase your dose. Hope that helps a bit

Hi. Bisoprolol did not help my ectopics so after 18 months on it, I was switched to Verapamil a calcium channel blocker which has been brilliant and all but stopped them. Life changing for me. Hope they work for you.

Did you ask for that particular medication or did your GP prescribe it? I'm tormented by ectopics and take Bisoprolol which doesn't touch them.

The cardiologist I saw recommended it. I was reluctant but my gp said I should try it then if it doesn’t work he will refer me back. I’m trialling it for a month

I moaned about them to the cardiologist and GP for 18 months and it wasn't until my latest appointment with the cardiologist I said enough is enough. So he begrudgingly changed me to Verapamil. I guess it depends what other heart probs you have as to what you can take?

I was started on 1.25 Bisoprolol for SVT and this wasn't very effective so GP increased dose to 2.5 which I've been taking now for several years and find much more effective though I still get the occasional episode usually as a result of stress.

I was prescribed bisoprolil three years ago for pvc’s. I was still having more than usual and was also prescribed diltiazem. They work pretty well most of the time. Best of luck.

I use to be on bisoprolol for about a year! They helped me A LOT, however my heart rate would go fairly low, as well as blood pressure! As soon as I took 2.5mg about a couple hours after I would feel my heart rate go normal and not working so forcefully, plus it helped take away my palpitations, and only rarely would I get them. I stopped because I found it made my asthma worse and I became pregnant.

I take it and it doesn’t help my PVCs unfortunately. I take 2.5 twice daily.. I wake up with a extremely fast heart rate in the morning so that’s why I split my dose. It has help with the tachycardia quite a bit but I still have my morning episodes every now and then. They tell me it’s my anxiety.
