Hi, I have had atrial fibrillation for around 15 years. I’m also taking bisoprolol but it’s a medication for high blood pressure, not for stabilising heart rhythms. It keeps my blood pressure down but I still have fibrillation. I just have to cope with it unfortunately, although it’s very unpleasant.

Bisoprolol primarily reduces your heart rate and has a small effect on lowering blood pressure. I t is not generally used now for reducing blood pressure.

Hi, I took bisoprolol 2.5mg for a few days but it dropped my blood pressure and I had to stop it. I have it as an emergency back up as I don't have BP problems. It gave me joint pain, I may have paroxysmal AF. Still no diagnosis and waiting to see cardiologist. I am aware of irregular heartbeats at times. GP won't change anything until I have been seen by cardiologist so just hoping for the best at the moment. Good luck.

Hi, I've been taking it (5mg) for about a year now to prevent dangerous ventricular heart rhythms (I have ARVC and am at risk of sudden cardiac death). It prevents these arrhythmias but I still get ectopics and get some atrial fib. They do cause tiredness and fatigue - but as those are also symptoms of my condition it is hard to attribute the amount to each cause. Hope that helps. Peter

I am on 10mg per day. I don't have any problems but some people do. In the first week or so you might feel a little breathless and tired but if you give your body a little time to adjust to the slower heart rate you may be ok after that.

Hi there, this was the first med we tried for my SVT. It made me too tired to function. It was like my body was running on a battery that died around 3 every afternoon. I had to sleep every afternoon/evening and it greatly affected my job as a teacher. When I told my cardiologist I wanted to cut my work to half days, she said don't be silly, we'll try another med. I'm now on diltiazem and don't get overly tired anymore.
