What is it like to have an EP Study done!
Not sure what you mean? An ElectroPhysiologist usually has a talking meeting with you first to establish what symptoms you are having, how often, etc. This then decides what he or she will do in terms of tests or decisions. They will run an ecg on you when you get there ,prior to your meeting. They will also take BP and weigh you.
they will discuss best treatment options ,either drugs or possible proceedures.
best wishes
Is your EP just performing an EP study or does he intend performing some ablation at the same time? Have you been told that you will just be sedated? It's possible that you may be given a General Anaesthetic. You may also be given a Transoesophagel Echocardiogram (i.e. a tube down your throat) to check for any clots in your heart beforehand. I had a GA rather than sedation. It's a routine procedure; not surgery. I was kept in overnight to be sure that the femoral artery in the groin had healed before I left. The most difficult parts for me were keeping still and on my back for several hours so as not to disturb the femoral artery site and changing the dressing because they hadn't shaved me first (ouch!).
Nothing to worry about. I hope you get a fix to your problem.
Wow what a detailed answer!! It’s just an EP study. I don’t know if I will be sedated. I am not sure about the ablation, ( I was told that the problem I have cant be fixed by medication). So I might need one I am not sure.😉
