pacemaker.
does any of my comrades that has had ... - Heart Rhythm Diso...
does any of my comrades that has had a pacemaker fitted take an occasional alcoholic drink..christmas is coming and it would be good to know
I personally don't purely because I can't tolerate alcohol but having a pacemaker doesn't stop you having a drink.
Had pacemaker fitted two weeks ago. Still feeling rough at times. But go for occasional couple of pints and chat with the lads in the pub. Which is not the same as it was as my local is nearly empty at times. 😡😡
hi mike nice to hear from you.can i ask what was wrong with your heart.mine is heart failure xxxxx
I have af and heart failure. Have been on medication for over 4years with bad side effects so consultant suggested CRT-p pacemaker which I had fitted two weeks ago. My heart rate is now stable at around 70bpm which I can check on heart rate free app on my smart phone.
yes like you i am so glad to be alive.i went in to hospital on the 27th nov for an ablation and came home a week later with a biventicular p/m.they scanned my heart because i was,t feeling well and found i had fluid they quickly gave me frusemide and i wee-ed all day but felt so much better i can walk without gasping for breath and its marvellous!!!
I had an ICD fitted 5 years ago and was advised that a glass of red wine of an evening would do me good. The main thing to avoid is caffeine.
I have an occasional drink but it can make my af worse if i have more than a couple.
I have a very rare glass of wine and it all seems to be ok for me
My friend has a pacemaker and takes a ‘modern’ anti-coagulant, and she has a couple of drinks. She says she wasn’t advised against drink. So, cheers ! And Happy Christmas !
We're all different, and have pacemakers for different reasons, so I think you would need to try (in moderation) for yourself. My original cardiac problem was an arrhythmia, so I suspect that my heart may well be quite 'sensitive'. I regularly have a small glass of wine with my evening meal but have learnt that an evening whisky is not advisable. I used to enjoy having a beer on an evening at one time, too, but my prostate stopped that pleasure a long time ago.
thankyou ian mk for the info i like to have a measure of gin in a big glass filled with tonic ice and lemon.xxxx christmas greetings to youxxxxxxx
Enjoy! Merry Christmas to you too
