Early ablation

I am 51 and have PAF. Has anyone on this forum sought early intervention with an ablation to get things fixed before they progress? We hear about athletes getting fixed quickly. I am not an athlete but I’m reasonable shape. Do EP’s recommend this at all?

I’m 36 and was just diagnosed with afib and my EP wants me to get Cryo-ablation ASAP.. but I want to wait.. I have had ablation twice for psvt.. with it your still awake in a twilight.. with the cryo they put you all the way under and that scares me..

I've had a cryo and a radio - go for it. You are to young to put up with this disease!

Yes, I was offered an ablation for paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia without trying medication first and am happy that I went down that path.

I was diagnosed with PAF at my GP's, I 'happened' to be having an event when they did an ECG. Sent to see a cardiologist who prescribed beta blocker and discharged me back to GP, 'come back if you need to'. I new nothing about AF, researched it, discovered a fair amount, read about ablations and another hospital seemed to be a centre with several EP's. Back to GP, asked for referral to them, where we discussed ablation procedure, signed my life away and had two procedures. 20 months on going ok. With hindsight I had had AF for 18 months or so and apart from the mild , 1.25mg, Biso and and a few flec as a PIP I didn't 'do' other drugs. Happy, so far, I did it that way.

Do it. I never took drugs - did a cryo in january of 2015 and a radio in August to fix some "leaks". Been NSF for 30 months and am able to exercise at a high level. Good luck!
