I had an ablation 8 months ago, it’s been quite a terrible recovery but feeling pretty good compared to pre surgery.
Recently I’ve had a fair few flutters, maybe every day for about a week now. Not sure if this is normal? They seem to stop and start but not for over a week.
Have a doc appointment on Friday to get a referral to the cardiologist but I was hoping someone could calm my nerves while I wait

Hi there. Our hearts really know how to make things hard for us and I think it can sometimes work the other way as well. If you are anxious about the appointment and what it will lead to, or about what you are experiencing, it is enough to unsettle your heart and you notice every little thing it does.
There are lots of ways to help yourself to relax - teas, candles, music, room sprays, meditation.
Your heart, like any other muscle would be, is very sensitive after ablation. Pressure after a large or indigestible meal can create problems. Keep off spiced and processed foods. Look up Vagus nerve. Excess adrenalin caused by stress alcohol and caffeine is a key factor. Drink decaff (pure water decaffination ) tea coffee and cut out alcohol. Calm the mind with meditation (empty your mind and think of something pleasant ). You may be experiencing Ectopic beats. This is common after ablation and usually subsides after a year. They are not thought to be too serious and are easily monitored using a home device and saved or forwarded to your gp or consultant. I used Kardia in conjunction with my mobile or tablet which was of great assistance. £99 was the best investment in my health ever. Ablation has given you a reprieve. Use it well. Best wishes for a long and happy life!
Give it another 6 months and then you might wish to try a drink etc. and see what happens. Prior to needing ablation I always enjoyed a drink but it seems it's considered a contributory cause of AF and I personally am convinced it is. Socially I drink Becks Blue and good quality soft drinks.
I tend to keep diet to low saturated fat.
It no longer bothers me, particularly when I remain healthy.
I had my 1st ablation April 2017, had a pretty bad recovery and I too started having flutters around 5 months afterwards. I was still under my cardiologist as my ablation was unsuccessful, and he was very unconcerned by this. He even said that I probably had flutters before as most people do but that now I was more aware of it post ablation. Try not to worry, your heart needs time to heal and everyone is different. Hope this helps
My cardiologist believes my ablation was successful. I just had an appointment with him where he told me that I’ll always have the flutters I’ll just tune out of it over time
