ICD and Airport Security

I have just returned from a trip to Italy and this is the first time that have flown since having an ICD fitted a year ago. I was a little worried because of the usual over officiousness of the security people. However there were no problems apart from the heavy handed security guy at Malaga airport who slapped the ICD site and made me flinch.

Some are good and some not so good..... :(( and I'm a female

Thank you for sharing this, It is reassuring to many to read that you had hardly any issues, although I am sorry to read that one security guard was heavy handed.

The general rule is to show your ICD card at security, however if you are still asked to go through the metal detector archway, then you should go straight through without hesitation.

You can read more about travelling with an ICD in our CRT/ICD/S-ICD booklet which can be downloaded from heartrhythmalliance.org/aa/...
