I'm on day two without my flecainide, preparing for second ablation Monday, and my little valentine is definitely reminding me why I signed up for another go-around to hopefully clear this thing up once and for all. I'd postponed original appt. for two weeks later ( couldn't miss book club!), and though not really worried about the procedure itself, hate the prep and recovery. Though I can't really complain about those either, if they go as relatively smoothly as the first. Fingers crossed, as am notorious for beginner's luck. Went for last trip to the gym today, too, for a few days, ignoring my jumping heart, and sure enough, as it often did before ablation, exercise seemed to kick it back into NSR. You just never know with this tricky ailment. Of course, it's acting up again now, so good reminder why I'd better go through with this appt. for sure. Unless somebody wants to suggest a movie Monday?!
Two more days. Gulp.: I'm on day two... - Heart Rhythm Diso...
Two more days. Gulp.
Hi, how are you? How did your ablation go? I hope you feeling optimistic and strong and everything went just perfect. Please tell us how did it go.
I have been advised to have a second ablation. But really do not want to do it, because it may not work again... oh, probably I am not bad enough to get brave and go for ablation right now.
It went so well I didn't Eben have to stay overnight! Once the anesthetic wore off and I had walked twice to test groin wound, they gave me the all clear. No headache this time either. Doc said he only had to "clean up" two previous spots and couldn't elicit any AF. It's too bad he didn't have access to my daughter's vitriol in bottle form or something because that gets it going , without fail! Anyway, I'm glad I did the second and hope when I'm officially off fleccainide can find out for sure it did the trick. Still waking up with mild flutter, however. Possibly to be expected so soon after. Thanks for your concern and best wishes in whatever choice you make.
I hope it will work for you with time. We can only hope.
My first was such a dramatic difference, from full time AF to completely normal that there's no comparison, and I could easily have gone on with the most recent flare up, but I really don't want to take meds if possible, which is what the doc had reminded me. He was actually eager to have a second go at it. And I trust him implicitly. Good doc AND good man.
Go for it. If you don't you may frefreq it big time in a few years time and then it might not be possible.
Thanks Peter, but that post was a week ago and it's all done! Thankfully, easier than the first one, and I didn't even have to stay overnight. Still in flec so won't know for another month how well it worked out for sure, but so far so good.
Minnie! I feel ya! While I have SVT (instead of AF), I'm gearing up for my 2nd ablation on this upcoming Wednesday. It has been a lonnnng 10 weeks of waiting (cath lab was under construction 😫) and I, too, have had moments where I've thought "what's the point, the 1st one didn't work, why would this one?" However, at a certain point I just have to remind myself that these doctors have amazing technology and WANT to fix the problem, and if I want an improved quality of life, a second round is worth a shot. Don't get me wrong - I'm an anxious mess. Hang in there and just know that there are others who totally get where you're coming from. Sending healing, calming vibes your way!
Thank you so much for your kinds words! Hope your 2nd ablation will be your last and you will feel good again!!!
