Candersarten - additional benefits?

Following my stent in LAD 18 months ago & a diagnosis of PAF CHADS 1 with no thinners (featured in earlier posts so won't bore again with that!) I was prescribed 2mg daily of Candersartan even though I have never suffered from any kind of raised blood pressure - as I understand it, the principal reason to prescribe this drug. At the time the cardiologist suggested there were other benefits of candersarten but I really can't recall what they are now! Can anyone enlighten me? Many thanks as ever. Best wishes to all, Sean
