I’m new to this page but I just thought I’d see if anyone has any practical advice ??
I had my hysterectomy in the 6th jan and was put into a medical menopause so I felt I walked into the hospital a sane person and shuffled out a loon ball, I’ve been put on hrt which is helping some of the symptoms but I still feel totally off my rocker most days can’t sleep not eating very much completely exhausted my brain is so foggy!! And I feel I’m someone I don’t recognise anymore, I’m normally strong and together and now I’m just a shadow of my former self I don’t really like this person!!! Is this all normal does anyone else feel like this just interested to know... before I go back to the docs waving my white flag I’ve suffered 6 months hoping it would get better

Hi Whisking1, it sounds like maybe you are not on the right HRT for you yet? I went in to surgical menopause too and experienced sweats, lack of sleep etc. All horrid. I went on to HRT after 12 weeks and it has been a complete lifesaver. Feel the same as I did before op. I was lucky that the first type worked for me, straightaway, but you do read about lots of women who have to try different types and strengths to get to the right one for them. Find a sympathetic doctor and persevere in trying something different - you deserve to feel good xx
ThAnkyou for your reply I’ve never experienced anything as awful as this and I’ve suffered with hormone imbalance with various things most of my life but this is dibilitating
Hi I had a total hysterectomy and was the same as you plunged into a surgical menopause with no advice just told to go on HRT until I’m 51 and left to get on with it. I had my surgery 3 years ago aged 45. I was fine for the first 6 months but have experienced anxiety, nausea and general gastro problems which I felt like I was going mad. I kept saying to my GP am I on the right dose of oestrogen? Could they do a blood test as maybe I’m either having to much or to little or perhaps I wasn’t absorbing it properly but I kept getting fobbed off. So I did lots of research and I think I had a definite hormone imbalance so I finally changed to oestrogen gel and I also take a Vogel menopause support tablets and vit c and since the change and combination of these 3 things I feel loads better. You have to keep pushing if you don’t feel right and keep going back to your GP until you find the right HRT that suits you as no one should suffer. And it’s not normal to feel like this there is so much more info out there I recommend the menopause doctor she has lots of info. Hope this helps 👍😃
Thank you so much for your reply I feel better knowing others have felt the same and are now feeling brighter!! I’ve read about vit c so just started on that but what’s Vogel menopause suppprt where did you buy that from is that what it’s called ?? I think il pop myself in that straightaway can’t hurt until I can get back into the docs and get started on a new regime il try anything at this mo in time I’m desperate
Glad your well though and there’s light at the end of this dark dark tunnel
Hi Claire you can buy the A Vogel menopause support tablets from Holland and Barrett. It’s good for tiredness and general well being but it has magnesium in it which is why I took it as it’s supposed to help with nausea. Good luck I’m sure you will get there just don’t give up👍😃
Sounds to me as though you either need to increase your dose or change the type of HRT you are using, It definitely isn’t a case of “one size fits all” when it comes to HRT. It can also take 3-4 months to feel the benefit so depending on when you started on it, you may need to give it a little more time. I would also suggest checking with your GP about localised vaginal oestrogen as this plays an important role in maintaining good health with all your remaining pelvic organs. It can be used alongside systemic HRT, along with a good vaginal moisturiser. Do your research and check the ingredients and pH to ensure it doesn’t cause more problems than it solves. Further down the line, once your oestrogen levels are optimum, you might like to think about testosterone replacement. I’ve just started on this 5 years post op to improve energy, muscle strength and libido. Waiting to see if it works...
Hope you feel better soon. Don’t expect to get the “old you” back, look forward to the “new you”.
