Oh well. 2 more days before the big Op.
Got to be honest I'm terrified but it has to be done. I'm thinking long term post op. Hopefully after a few months I will feel the benefit and get my life back.
Any advice off anyone is greatly appreciated. X

Good luck. I hope all goes well for you. I had my hysterectomy six and a half weeks ago and now feel completely recovered and much better than I did before my op. The first few days after the operation were not nearly as bad as I imagined. The staff in hospital were fantastic and made sure I was comfortable. I did find it hard to rest sufficiently once I was home (I have two young children and two dogs - a busy house!). The first four weeks I was exhausted and still needing painkillers. After that I gradually increased my activity levels and by six weeks I felt great.
Make sure you take it easy as much as possible and take all the help that is offered. Don't expect too much from yourself. You will need time to heal.
There is obviously a good reason you are having a hysterectomy so just keep thinking of the benefit you will feel when it's all over.

Hi, I had my hysterectomy last Tuesday by laparoscopy. The pain hasn't been nearly as bad as I imagined it would be, but I'm seeing out the course of paracetamol I was sent home with as a precaution. Although I haven't taken any of the codeine I was prescribed. I've tried to rest as much as possible, but I can honestly say I've never been as tired as I'm feeling by the end of the day, even after resting! Initially I've needed laculose to help my bowels, but again the hospital prescribed that too! My appetite is still quite small so I've been eating small meals of mainly easy foods - beans on toast, scrambled egg, porridge and lots of fruit, also keeping up my fluid intake! I know when I've done too much as I feel a dragging sensation around my abdomen. Other than that I'm feeling quite well in myself.
I hope your surgery goes well this week. The staff on the ward I was in were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble and they were able to answer all my questions and allay any fears I had.
All I can say is prepare to feel a bit uncomfortable post-op and also very very tired, but listen to your body, do the exercises the physio gives you and relax as much as you can and you'll be fine
Good luck

Hello Chel69 😊
I had abdominal H. 9 weeks ago, and the pain was not as bad as expected, largely due to the pain relief pump 😊 Like others have said tiredness was an issue, so try to get support in place if you can 😊 Also I found anything tight around my middle uncomfortable so take nighties not pyjamas into hospital 😊 I bought some cheap leggings 3 sizes bigger and have worn them constantly ever since as jeans are still a problem 😕
I wrote a detailed account of my stay in hospital if you want to read it, just click on my name and you will find it 😊
Good luck and best wishes 😊
