I have pectus carinatum/pigeon chest which affects my breathing? I also believe it affects my sleep which has always been bad?

The deformation of my chest caused when aged ten I had meningitis, have had JME epilepsy since 14, in 2017 I fell off my exercise bike onto the bike, because I was the only witness, I had to assume what damage I has sustained, it was at least five ribs around the sternum, in 2022 after a radiation session and decapeptyl sr injection for misdiagnosed Prostate Cancer it weakened my rib cage structure "untreatable", I have mentioned these before on HU not looking for blame, too late to do anything about it as I am now aged 68, BUT could this be a major reason for my bad sleep patterns, which are presently taking at least three hours EVERY night just to get to sleep! Would some sort of oxygen supply help? My chest is deflated on my right side, ironically my left side including my heart are "good and strong"? Any suggestions would be gratefully received👌

Are you taking any tablets that might cause sleep problems? Cortico-Steroids had a dreadful affect on me.

Thanks piglette its the old story taking any tablets always scared of side effects or reactions, the likes of pain killers don't work on me any more, even if I did take anything for it, its always for effect rather than cause, so it would only be very short term benefits at best? Even if I'm not tired takes three hours, half knackered muscles aching ALWAYS the same routine circa three hours? Have not changed any prescribed medication in six years, [metformin for diabetes 2 three years ago?] Could be extreme mental stress, coming out of that in house move in a few weeks, won't do any harm after that happens🤞

I solved my sleeplessness with listening to the BBC World Service. I hear things that never appear anywhere else it seems. I may have missed sleep but it has made me more knowledgable!!

Seems to be the more intelligent of people are ruminating their brain cells at that time of the day👍

Yes got it officially confirmed apparently via my sister and my solicitor, I will be moving from one house to new apartment second week of January 2025, celebrating my nephews birthday 19th Jan 👍👌 I MIGHT sleep a bit better tonight [although bl###y cold 🥶 tonight] 👍👌🤗🤗🤗

DOH! The amount of prescribed medication, especially in the last eight years, would fill a pharmacy, no problem! Sorry piglette since my "real trouble" started in Xmas 2016 with the change of my epilepsy medication, a real compendium of medical conditions and 'suchlike' BUT I strongly believe🤞 that I am coming through to a more peaceful quiet retiring portion of my life, although my "favourite 😝🙄😖 local hospital" is 400 metres from it [pure coincidence] it is a untried part of the area I have lived in for 60 years I will be moving to👌 hopefully I will be a bit healthier mentally and physically? Unfortunately it does not really answer my original question!
