I've been on 10mg Ambien nightly for many years and have tried unsuccessfully to reduce the dosage.

Has anyone been successful and would share how this was accomplished.

Thank you,

Ray ..............

Have you tried reducing one day then going back to the original doze for a few days then trying again but going back to the original doze for a shorter time and so on?

Thank you Piglette for your quick reply. Yes, I will give this method a try.

I’ve been on 10mg Ambien for 45 years.

My current process is: If I’m not asleep after 2 hours, I increase dosage about 2~3 mg, which usually works & get to sleep. Once in awhile, if the additional 2 mg does not work, I may take an additional 1 mg. Downside is that when I do wake up - I’m in a brain fog.

Has anyone else been able to stop Ambien and how did you accomplish it? Did anyone go to a drug rehab center?

Thank you - Ray ……

Ambien is not recommended for long-term use. Did your doctor prescribe it for 45 years? It is normally recommended it should be used for a couple of weeks, usually around 10mg, as it loses its potency over time. I would ask your doctor about how to treat withdrawal.
