Today is World Food Day and it is celebrated across the world as it was organised by the Food and Agriculture organisation of the United Nations and its mission is to cut food waste and combat hunger to ensure a Healthy diet for all of us which's what this community stands for, healthy eating for all of us.
I think that we all have our part to play in cutting food waste and the choices that we make. I just think that its a shame that some local goods are often a lot more expensive than those that have many air miles under their belt. Butter is a great example of this as that costs considerably more for locally produced.
I also think that its great that we have so many members from all over the world with a common interest in eating healthily, so nice one folks. π
You know me Jerry, three days from a roast chicken!! Two lunches for two from bottom of the fridge veg soup. Most our is either home grown or very local. We need to eat by the seasons and save air miles.
Hey that sounds really good to me Alice especially with all your home grown, so I couldn't agree more on saving air miles coupled with seasonal local is the best.
You enjoy your roast chicken with home grown veg...π
The article was very interesting and gave great ideas on how to get more involved so no one would waste food. There were some people I use to know from my school years that would decide that they didn't want to finish what they ate and would just trash it. Even as a teenager back then, I knew that wasn't a good idea and it made me upset knowing that others could've had what ended up being thrown away. So sad.
