not meeting calorie intake

Hello, I’m an 18 year old female and I weigh 275.5lbs. My goal weight is to be 130lb by late next year, I have been going to the gym but all these apps are saying I have to eat 2410 calories to lose 1 pound per week, however once I log what I ate for the day it equals to 1200 calories by the least. I am worried because I feel like I won’t reach my weight goal and I don’t know how to change my diet properly. English isn’t my first language so I apologize if I say some words incorrectly. 😅

Hi imahavetoghost

I would suggest joining the NHS weight loss forum, because you can have some group support in there - a link is here, if you want to have a look:

healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

I hope you'll also have a look around the Healthy eating forum to see what things you like.

I would like to wish you good luck with your weight loss goals.

There are two things I'd mention:

These calorie apps tend to over-estimate the number of calories burned, so I wouldn't pay too much attention to the number of calories they say you should eat - it's a recipe for gaining weight. I would think for your start weight, you could comfortably eat 1400-1600 calories a day and lose the weight comfortably, so if you find only 1200 calories are leaving you feeling hungry, you can increase a little bit. Try to aim for extra fruit and veggies :)

Be careful with trying to lose quite a lot of weight over a short period of time - 140lbs in 18 months is quite a rapid weight loss, and you should take steps to avoid excess skin. Plan a month every so often where you try to maintain your weight for the whole month, to allow your skin to catch up. Moisturise regularly, and make sure you include toning exercises.
