Hi everyone,

One of the BBC News headlines today was concerning this Health report, written by Alex Therrien (who is the Health reporter at the BBC), and it is entitled Processed Meat 'Linked to Breast Cancer'.

It's a relatively short article, but there are some links to previous studies etc, if you're interested in this subject.

Hi again,

I just wanted to reply here regarding my own personal thoughts on processed meat. I do consume it - mainly in the form of chorizo or an occasional slice of bacon, but I try to keep my consumption relatively low, in comparison with other foods I choose. I have had times in my life when I cut out meat altogether, and was a Pescatarian, but in recent years I have returned to consuming some meat, but in terms of processed meats, I do try to limit them.

Hi sibly

I'm just sharing a topical article, so hope you found it interesting. Regarding Marmite, do you like it? I know it's one of those products, that according to the adverts, people either love or hate, and there's an article in the Telegraph which talked about it - that you might find interesting:

Hi Zest, I listened to this on the radio this morning so thanks for posting a link. I think that this is very topical so I've created a new Topic section 'Topical'

Really processed meats are like trans fats in that they were a way of preserving foods without raising any health concerns. But now we know better so the only thing has changed is our understanding of how these processed foods have disadvantages.

I think you're right about eating some things in moderation but for me so many processed foods add gluten in one way or another I've avoided them for different reasons.

To me the secret is that 'we' the consumer should be aware of what we are really eating.

Jerry 🙂

Hi Hidden

Many thanks for adding a new Topic called 'Topical' and I will ensure I re-categorise this post, so it can be in that section. Great idea, and you've made some good points in response to this article too - thanks. :-)
