Good afternoon: Hi I'm Vonnie I have AF and I... - Healthy Eating
Good afternoon
Hi Vonnieruth
Welcome to the Healthy Eating forum. You mentioned having AF, and I saw an article recently which was about 'diet and AF' so you might find it interesting:

Have a look around our various topics, and there is also some helpful information on 'healthy eating' from the NHS 'Live Well - Eat Well pages':

I currently follow a nutritarian diet as advocated by Dr Joel Fuhrman, where every mouthful that goes inside your mouth is considered for its nutritional value. While that may sound boring, in fact it is very easy and exciting. All you need to do is eat plant-based foods with a rainbow of colours on your plate each day. So green could be broccoli, white could be mushrooms, red could be tomatoes or strawberries, yellow might be mango or squash.
This is an incredibly heart healhy way of living. It provides all the nutrients in the right quantities. Yes some research & practice might be involved to get going but the health benefits should be astounding, not just for your heart.
Just one point on weight loss, for most people this kind of diet also normalises your weight naturally towards your BMI. No calorie counting, just eat until you are full each meal.
On just fruit and veg
Fruit veg salad beans pulses nuts grains is probably a better list.
I have around 10-15 types of legumes in my cuboard at any time, black beans, aduki, black-eyed, red, brown lentils, chick peas, canellini. Each have their strengths. Chick peas slow baked in plenty of water and garlic, and when I say slow I mean for several hours on a very low heat end up with a beautiful nutty texture and taste. This is an roman recipe, so yes - around 2,000 years old.
