Hi all, I'm new here

A forty-something father of 2 living a sedentary lifestyle; knowing I need to do something, but always finding an excuse not to start today.

So after months of procrastination, I've decided I *have* to do something to get healthy and increase my energy levels. The small spare tyre doesn't seem to be going away of its own accord, so some life-decisions need to be made. Cut down booze - and slow down on caffeine (6-8 cups of tea a day); eat smaller portions of better quality food; start to do a bit of exercise (exploring the C25K site). I have also committed to put down the phone/tablet on an evening and find better ways to spend the precious 'free time'.

My goal is to have enough energy to keep up with my kids (10 and 7). Right, that's enough talk - time to actually *do* something!

Thanks for listening :)

Hi and welcome to the group, lavaJava . It sounds like you may want to do some walking during the day. Have you tried/checked out the Active 10 group also on HU? Go to their group and click on the follow button for them. You can post your postings and comments. This also helps keep up your walking totals!😀

Hi, I've recently cut down on the Alcohol consumption. Initially on my 2 days a week diet days as in the fast diet/ 2/5 diet And found that relatively easy as long as I had a non alcoholic drink beside me. I've since progressed to 5 or 6 days a week without Alchohol. . knowing I can allow myself 2 evenings of a social drink when meeting up with relatives or friends at the weekend.

Smaller portions of food are def the way to go. I consider myself to be a fairly healthy eater whith a few exceptions. I would suggest, start with one item on your healthy lifestyle list at a time if you are cutting down because it does take some planning for alternative drinks and types of food. IF you are able to exersise that will help greatly if you are cutting down your healthy portions. Good luck.

Hey well done for joining us and introducing yourself lavajava, I think that you have had a realisation about your lifestyle and you're in good company on here for all things healthy eating so good for you and good luck. 😊
