In case people think I am just a killjoy!

Yes I advocate what I consider the ultra-healthy end of nutrition. I do this because my body needs it. Without it my life would go downhill rapidly.

But most people do not necessarily need to go that far. If that's you and you want to consider giving up meat there are an increasing number of "quality" meatless alternatives. Top of the tree right now is the impossible burger which is soon coming to restaurants in the UK.

Interestingly Google are bidding ridiculous amounts of money to buy the company, based on consistent reports of blind tests where meat eaters prefer the impossible burger. I will never eat one, but to others it may appeal.

Hi Andy,

I find it interesting hearing what people enjoy eating, and I will read this over the weekend, thanks for sharing it.

I've enjoyed your posts, and I don't think you are a 'Killjoy' - I think you're passionate about your way of eating, and the benefits that it has had for your health.

Hope you are enjoying a sunny day - it's getting colder for definite!

Zest :-)

Hi Andy, I agree with Zest that you're not a killjoy you are you and you practice what suits you best and I admire any one with the courage of their convictions.

As for the impossible burger its impossible for me to excited about designer foods, I much prefer designer clothes..LOL

So you carry on Andy as we like you for who and what you are. 😊

The white bread is enough to put me off, though I'm interested in the heme (is that haem to us) content.

There's been a lot of research into non-animal based meat products for over a decade. I didn't like meat to begin with, but like the Impossible Burger, it offers a more ethical choice for those who want it.

This is a healthy eating forum so posts from people like you who are eating healthily are exactly what I'd expect :)

Ironically, in creating a plant based burger that tastes like a meat one, they might also have created something that is as unhealthy as one, as the heme form of iron might not be that good for us (even if it's better absorbed)

I'll go with that. Not necessarily quite as unhealthy, but definitely not healthy.

Here’s another link about impossible burgers and their ethical implications,
