When I first began my diet back in July, I used to crave sugar over and over. However, since July, I have managed to cut out the bad food from my unhealthy diet and now I do not crave sugar. I have managed to lose 5lbs in 2 weeks without exercise. It would be a quicker weight loss if I exercised, but I do not have time for that :/. Once I enter a college, I will lose weight as it is quite an active course ๐
Dieting has worked for me and was difficult at the beginning, however, I now find sugary things I used to crave sickly ๐
Dieting is possible, itโs just difficult ๐

Hi Mervi
Well done to you as that isn't easy. I have a few questions which I hope you don't mind me asking:
How long did it take for you to not crave sugar and find sweet stuff sickly?
Have you substituted sugar for other things (i.e. honey, fructose syrup etc.)?
It took me about 3-4 weeks to not crave sugar and about 5 weeks to find them sickly
I eat natural sugars from fruits and whatever is for dinner, mostly veg and one protein thing
Sorry, what do you mean by โdo you use/eat dates?โ ?
Also no problem
Imagine all the health benefits from no sugar filled things. I now have tons more energy than ever, lose weight just through dieting (baring in mind Iโm only 16) and donโt feel as down as I used to
I need to bite the bullet and stop using sweetners in my drinks. If I just throw them away then I won't be tempted. The fructose syrup I use is straight from the fruit i.e. apples and I'm not sure what the other fruit is, it isn't processed.
I tend to eat veg, protein and sweet potatoes for dinner.
What I mean by dates is do you eat them at all and do you cook with them i.e. I make my own flapjacks and add chopped dates to the recipe.
Totally agree with the health benefits and for someone of 16 years to be so wise is incredible, you could teach older people a thing or two and that includes me.
Sorry, I didnโt realise there was a fruit called dates. No I do not use/eat them. I tend to stay away from processed foods if I can.
What I eat during the day:
Breakfast - small bowl of cereal, that will last until 11 ish.
11 (break/snack) I will have a healthy yoghurt, the brand is โDanon Light and Freeโ
Lunch (1pm) - 2 pieces of fruit and possibly 2 slices of brown bread, no filling due to me not liking sandwich fillings... oops ๐ฌ๐
Snack (when I get home, 4pm ish) - one fruit
Dinner - veg and a protein, sometimes it will include carbs but not very often
Also, thank you. ๐ I have been told by many people that Iโm really mature and quiet and I try to help as many people as I can with what knowledge I have ๐
Thank you for that, it's really helpful know what you have been eating. I think because you snack on the healthy stuff you do not need the carbs at dinner time.
Dates aren't processed, the are a dried fruit and by far the best ones are Medjool but they are expensive. I have added a link below so you can see what they are.
Thank you Mervi for those encouraging words. I'll bite the bullet and throw away the sweetners I have and then I will have to go without the sweetness in my drinks. It's funny as I can eat porridge without sweetners!!
No problem ! Also Iโm sure you can do this ! It gets easier after a few weeks of no/limited sugar. If you have any questions donโt hesitate to ask x
Good for you for sticking with it. I also craved sugar for a few weeks, but suddenly, you come out of it. Like magic! Worth hanging on in there for sure as the weight starts to melt away. For me, it was the same with bread.....
Just one point: dried fruits are very high sugar. It doesn't make any difference if it's Fructose, Sucrose, Lactose, etc. All Sugar. All carbs. Stevia is natural sweetener (from leaves) and can be used. Good luck everyone.
I also found out a little while ago that Xylitol is derived from Birch trees, I've added a link below. Stevia is also good at lowering blood pressure as well so a good one.
