Bad at being vegan

I've been meat and dairy free for 6 months now, but I recently have been slipping up! Not sure why? I've been taking vitamins and supplements, I physically and mentally feeling better being vegan. I need to get myself together, I don't want to fall back into bad eating habits. Last night i had a frozen cheese pizza, cheez its and brownies! What the heck? I've been vegetarian for 2 years, so that's good, but I most definitely don't want to eat dairy. I used to eat sooo much cheese, it was like a drug. I suppose I'm stress eating, that makes sense. Any tips on how to not stress eat?

I can think of a couple of tips:

1) don't have unhealthy food in the house so you are not tempted.

2) find something non food related to distract yourself if you get stressed - I find gohg to the gym works best

3) if you have to eat, make it healthy and filling like brown rice and veggies, so keep plenty of these on hand for emergencies.

I've been vegan for over 2 years now and never been tempted to eat cheese even though I used to eat masses. My bad foods are vegan ice cream and chocolate :)

Hi, I have been vegan for nearly two years. Maybe you need to think about why you are vegan. What were your reasons for becoming vegan?. I am vegan as I can't bear to think that an animal suffered just so I can have cheese etc I feel it is morally wrong. I used to think if someone put cheese on a pizza I'd eat it but not now I would feel as though they might as well have let the dog lick it as it feels dirty to me. Maybe you need to look on you tube and watch some of the videos to remind you of the suffering and get your reasons for being vegan back. Good luck.

The animals only exist to be eaten, its the only reason we breed the animals

Please don't think things like you are bad at being vegan. It's something you either are committed to or not. If you want dairy, eat dairy. The most important thing is to eat well. If animal welfare is important to you make sure you know exactly where your eggs come from ( we can be tricked by some producers who are allowed to say the hens are free range even though that means in practice that there is onky access to the outside some of the time. Often there are too many hens to be to get out all at once. Top of the pecking order hens therefore get out whenever they want, the rest hardly ever) and buy organic if you can afford the extra. Organic farms tend to treat their animals better.

As long as your diet doesn't depend on dairy for most of its protein then that's fine.

Enjoy your food. That's the joy in the good stuff.

Thanks ledina I think we have to be careful not to let food become something we fail or succeed with. Food is a great pleasure and preparing and cooking it satisfying. We need to learn the facts and make choices according to our instinct and our values.

Dairy contains casein, a form of protein designed by nature to be addictive to keep the calf nearby. It has the same effect on humans. This is why you're getting cravings.

The best tip I can give you is try some other vegan snacks to have when you're craving. There are vegan cheeses made of nuts and herbs. They're actually quite delicious and have plenty of salt in them to mimmick the cheese taste.

Peanut butter on a banana is my all time favorite food ever. Try it.

Otherwise just a snack of fruit is always a good option. If you're not enjoying your food as much, add more spices to it. This will keep you more satisfied and less likely to seek out dairy.
