At my desk all day.

Today is day 3, and I must say you posts have been helping me a lot.

Normally I am at my desk all day. I don't tend to move unless it's to do the post, or visit the loo.

I know it's early days but I have set myself 4 main tasks.

1)  Eat 3 meals a day - don't miss any - but make sure they are healthy but look 'tasty'.

2)  Try to drink some water every hour. I'm not good with water, so I have set up an alert to remind me to 'drink'.

3)  Try to 'move' more. I don't get around a lot. Being so over weight I get tired quickly. I have decided to go little and often, so I have set up an alert. Each hour I should leave my chair and walk to reception, or the post room, or somewhere - as long as it means getting up an moving. Once I have more energy, I plan to walk around the college at lunchtimes.

4)  Snack healthily. I now have fruit on my desk. Not a normal item for me, but I have started to have one piece a day - today it's a mandarin. I also have celery / cucumber I have chopped into sticks to snack on as and when.

I am enjoying reading your posts, as there are so many folk in the same boat. So many who have the same worries, and so many great ideas. They motivates me, and give me better ideas - therefore making me feel positive. Long may it continue, thank you :)

Hi Sue.  Well done - one thing I've learned it that I come FIRST!  People who pass comment or ask why I'm walking in the rain are met with a smile.  I feel so much better for walking (around the school when it's toooo wet outside) Initially people said what are you doing - now they ask if they can walk with me and talk as they know I'm going anyway!!! The message has dropped that ten times around the square is a mile and I'm not the only one now walking.  Best of luck

It's so true. As it's different from the norm, you are always approached and asked ' what are you doing?'. I had such a bad habit of being at my desk all day, eating at my desk and not even visiting the bathroom until the end of day. Not good at all. Just making the effort, getting up and walking for those few minutes seem to have 'lifted' me somehow, so I plan to continue. Thank you, and best of luck to you too :)
