I have been told that due to my mental capacity (crazy impulsive spending, gambling and other issues) its advisable to have a deputy oversee my finances etc and am a bit confused about who they are, what they do? and how i get one who is normal and not a solicitor with there nose in the air talking down to me with loads of jargon.
I guess i want a straight talking, on the level, family person who can relate to our family circumstances and we can have a chat with when we need or want too.
Any help appreciated

Anyone can be your deputy as long as they are approved by the court of protection.
My husband has an independent, professional deputy whilst his civil case progresses, but I should think you could appoint a friend or family member. It does require some recording and reporting by the deputy.
Think maybe i should have had something like that, i gave my money away to people and i bought 'stuff' for people too. The is not a lot left and its only left because it wasnt accessable.
Think my familt more bothered about it than me though.
I hope you get the Deputy you desire!! Reminds me of Deputy Dawg
