i think the question you have to ask yourself is what you are willing to do to meet new people.

you will not meet new people unless you go looking for them

from reading your posts you do seem to be on a downer about this, but i am yet to see you respond positively to anyone's suggestions. and there have been many good ones.

you have to honestly ask yourself do you really want to meet new people, if the answer is yes then you have to go outside your comfort zone.

the same goes for all of us, and i feel the same way you do a lot of the time, i want to socialise more, but i find excuses or want someone to just come get me and take me out, but that's not going to happen, I am the one who has to do it (and headway are helping me)

if you are not ready then you will always find an excuse not to do something

ask headway about social groups, to start getting you out and about more and then you can move on from there,

but you know what interests you, so you need to find groups with the same interests

but again as much as any of us would like to help you, if you cant help yourself as well then nothing anyone can say here will make the slightest bit of difference

i don't mean this to sound harsh, but i of all people need a kick up the arse and reminding that nothing will come to me unless i go looking for it

and we are all guilty if that

what is it you actually want to do?

Biker talks sense, a lot of it.

I'm from Lincoln, though I I left the bracket marked 'Young' some time ago.

However, what I will say, is that since I ceased to be 'young', Lincoln has undergone massive changes, one being becoming a successful University city.

Thus. it has now become absolutely overrun with 'young' people, I believe some quarters refer to them as 'students'. They work in pubs, shops, pretty much everywhere in fact. Spotty youths wearing shawls, facially pierced goths and hyper confident baby faced teens roam the streets like swarms of post pubescent ants. Every spare piece of land has become student flats, there is now virtually one cheap pub on every town centre street. There are certain parts of the city that are now almost permanent party areas, where 'street pastors' wander around asking folk to keep the noise down and prising inebriated teens off the pavements.

There are now so many 'young' people in Lincoln that at the first possible opportunity myself and my soon to be wife have, we're off, moving, gone. Trust me, the young people are here, just look out the window, you'll see at least five hundred of them without averting your eyes. Much like those ants again, it only ever goes quiet when it's raining.

Pass the ant killer, I'm out of here
