I have a degenerative brain disorder and after 25 years it still a mystery why I have it. Has anyone been in a situation where a more powerful MRI has under covered something a lesser power scan has missed? What scan did you do? And what was the new knowledge?
Thanks

I think most NHS mri's are 1.5 tesla but some trusts have 3 tesla machines. Some research units are up to 7. There is also DTI, which is different and I believe can show neural pathways. CongniFX in the US do functional mri. I thought about getting more scans for my PCS but in a way, what's the point? May show something, but not like they can operate. If it was something operable it would show up on a 1.5 t NHS machine. The course of action is the same. Hope that helps...
Hi there, ive got severe memory problems. I've had several MRIs and ive had the same replies, they cant find anything. Im certain they can and dont want to say theres a problem. Sadly, they dont always tell the truth in my case.
Maybe a bit harsh, unless there is a bleed , it's not going to show up. The brains workings are microscopic and that doesn't show up on a MRI. It's like inspecting something visually.
I have regular MRIs with contrast and also cerebral angiograms. But that's because my issue is a neuro-vascular one and the contrast dye shows up the vascular connections. I really hope you get some answers soon.
