Edge hijacking computer

Hi All,

I'm sure most of you have a heavy dependence on computers. What I've found lately is that Windows is continually hijacking my setting to change Outlook or my Browser to Edge. I keep changing it back but somehow they keep changing it. Does anyone else have this problem? I'm finding it very confusing. Is there a way to blanket block Edge from doing this? Or should I raise this with Microsoft as an accessability issue?

Thanks

You're right - Windows does point you back to Edge all the time particularly in Windows 11. I've sort of given up - though it should be possible to set a different default browser?

yes i regulalry have this issue every time my laptop does an update. it is driving me mad. It removes my preferred search engine google chrome and makes it yahoo which is MS Edge's default. I have memory issues so changing it back causes me a of of problems until i figure it out, that can last days. it is a problem because my google email does not show on a yahoo page so i cannot access my email.

About 6 weeks ago it happened again. No matter how hard i tried to find the setting to make google chrome the default internet browser, i could not see it. This went on for over a week and i also could not access my email. In the end i concluded their latest update had an error which removed the setting i was looking for.

A new update happened quicker than usual so i was hopeful the setting would return. I still couldnt find it. I showed it to someone else and they did find it and set it back to google chrome as a default.

I agree with you, this shouldnt happen. Why should their update over-ride our default setting? I that has to happen, why are the default settings not more visible and upfront?

In the past when i did find the setting it did not always work, or i did something wrong. It is definitely ruining my user experience. It's so confusing.

If you contact them please use my experience if you want to add another person.

Even coming here to reply it opened edge and because it doesn't have my password, I needed to then go to Chrome and workout how to get here. Thanks for the replies I will email them. WIndows didn't use to be like this, it use to be you'd be asked when you install and then that was about it. This is terrible, they are trying to beat you into submission.
