Hi all,

Just wanted to let you know I’ve been trying to get to see a psychiatrist for the last five years. The result of which there aren’t any available ones (unless you pay privately) within Derbyshire. The GP tried to help me out, but I got officially rejected by Stockport & Sheffield due to my postcode.

The GP is now writing to Derbyshire Council to highlight the issue, and I’m writing to our new Labour politician in the hope this can become one of his local issues.

Whilst I appreciate that this isn’t the most crucial NHS issue it is something that should exist in such a large council x

Think the lack of service is because the NHS has been stripped to the bone. Try an alternative for whatever psychiatric condition you are experiencing. If it's anxiety/ depression related you can try mindfulness and mindful movement, or qi gong/ yoga

Here's some guided free audio sessions that you can download from the Center for Mindfulness Research and Practice. They are Bonafide and one of the best research centers in the world for using mindfulness to deal with mental health and psychiatric issues.

I heat you. The geography of your injury should not affect how and if you can get help. So frustrating and unfair. The few places that can provide help are too over stretched to take on people from outside their area which is understandable but unless these centres communicate the demands to NHS England then how is the NHS ever going to be truly National?

I hope you get some support from your MP

I hope your Labour MP can make some difference GD. My daughter-in-law's 2 year wait for surgery was reduced to days thanks to our local MP.

The Tory's impoverishment of the NHS is unforgivable..

Good luck, x

I’m in Cornwall and there is no neuro in the county .. Plymouth is my closest and that’s in Devon .. everyone I need to see dosnt exist .. I get put in waiting list for people with no neuro training like the physio I saw today who was so kind but has now training in balance physio and check to see it they are in Cornwall … and they aren’t so back to going private again as I has to do see a neurologist and mri scans as an update on what damage was done to my brain … I’m totally lost in an appalling health care system that I seem to be fighting every step of the way Sue 😢
