20month after tbi. My brother is now communicating!

Hi all

I’ve spent so many months reading through everyone’s posts posting questions pleading for answers and eventually I’m so happy to be able to let you all know my brother now communicates , he’s still non verbal but he’s writing answers to the questions we ask him , he even wrote down what he thought had happened to the guy who attacked him he wrote jail and said he’s been poorly for over a year when asked , I can’t quite believe he remembers the attack , thank you to everyone who took their time to send me their replies over the year and a half it’s helped me so much

I'm so happy for you Lea. I can almost feel your relief (we waited for signs of communication from my ex-husband but he never quite got there). This is a great breakthrough for your brother and the start of his return journey !

Keep talking to him but don't over-tire him or yourself ; just enjoy having him back with you and look forward to further progress in days/months ahead.

This fills me with hope for my partner who is now 6 months post stroke plus hyoxic injury. He is trying so hard to verbalise with us at the moment and it's so heartbreaking watching him and not knowing if he even knows who I am.
