greetings my freinds, bit of a rant coming up sorry in advance.so for best part of a month i have been requesting to see seans care plan/package at current home.as most of you know i will leave no stone unturned when it comes to my boy in particular when a physio informed (7 people including sean present)he is only getting 3 hrs physio per week?!!added to the fact that this place has had no speech/language therapist for almost the entire year he has been there...the planned procedure(funded by help for heroes)is also we were told not "possible",yet no one thought to let us know despite the fact we had both signed consent forms for it to go ahead.other issues but not that bothered.so,these people are timewasting/stalling as they know there will soon be a c.h.c meeting sean having been there for almost a year.Im not sure what their game is,or why no one wants to take responsibility, but i will have this plan, they know im not a fool cant understand why they are doing this?they better be ready for this meeting,i will be..the irony is that the staff are fantastic and go above/beyond.sean shortly moving to new built unit he is quite remarkable really for those that have followed our story.his "new self"is different to what was before, much quicker to outbursts/temper,but seems to have no filter as he used to.I along with others sometimes think this funny i guess this can be checked with time, lets hopexxhe is going to be 40 in may,we have plans but this crazy dog wont be good with lots of people, some thought required..best wishes to you all

First of all, where did that year go, There may be Therapist capacity issues it's nation wide which is occurring in communities too. However SALT can provide worksheets for staff/family to do, I literally done the SALT role all on myself for SALT to do little 10min assessment after daily therapy I did.. In relation to physio there are some exercises family/staff can do but guidance from physio is needed, but I looked into my husbands and we did our own spin because left solo during COVID. I understand your frustration but there are resources staff/family can do whilst waiting or needing additional hours in the meantime.

Despite your understandable concerns, is Sean happier in the past year x

You could consider calling headway helpline to see if they can help?

This is tantamount to neglect isn't it D ; I'm not surprised your patience is wearing thin. Sean (his carers too) must be horribly frustrated by the passage of wasted time with no therapy.

Maybe time for intervention from the local MP as these shortfalls are ultimately down to lack of adequate government support/funding.

We've found our local MP pretty dynamic in medical matters where family has been fighting in vain for essential treatment.

But as New_beginning suggests, surely the present staff can follow basic physio guides for supplementary treatment in the meantime ?

Thinking of you m'love .... E. Xx

Hi D, well what a year and where have you been, I was hoping all was well as you were quiet, don’t mean that in a derogatory sense, wow that’s a big word for me. I’m glad Sean’s settled and staff are good there, can’t really expect them to take on specialist work that should be provided by speech thrapist, I don’t think help for heroes will be very happy either if they are providing the funding, where is the money going, maybe they can provide Sean with a private SALT, they may have access to specialists at Hedley court or can offer advice. I like Sean have lost my filter so do have to be careful in conversation, because I do just come out with things, it’s visual things that I react to more, we were in a shop last week and a young woman came in she had lips like a duck beak, I almost gasped, and my daughter dragged me out of the way,why do young girls do this to their faces. Getting back to your problem, you are entitled to see Sean’s care plan, as his next of kin, have you asked for a meeting with the manager, they need to get their act together. Keep in touch my friend love Alice xx

I'm sorry to hear deja vu seems to be the word and that you have to still battle the powers that be just for access to the information you should automatically have and provision of the care that should be in place. I wish I had some words of wisdom...... x
