We know that big life-changing events like brain injury and the journey of adjustment that follows can give time to reflect on the things that really count.
This might involve family and friends, a rewarding career or hobby, or new priorities to manage the effects of brain injury - everyone has their own personal take on life.
Whether you're a brain injury survivor or a family member, we'd love to find out what really matters to you in life, why that is, and if brain injury has changed your outlook.

I think the connections to other people that I've been able to build since the MTB, are incredibly important. There's a point that if as I did, you've had to leave your workplace, that one feels invisible. Some old friends and family 'get it' , some still expect that at some point you'll be back to normal. New people you meet only know the 'new you' which takes the pressure off somehow. I value that when I meet someone (particularly at first, as that was pretty much all I could do because conversation was so difficult) that I listen more and talk less than before - so I now hear more about what's happening in someone else's life ( even if I don't remember it all...) It was a lightbulb moment to realise that so many of us humans just want someone who will listen. So just being able to smile and ask 'how are you' and mean it, has made a difference.
Fatigue means that I have to give more attention to prioritise what I do day to day, and learn to have stronger boundaries ( still a work in progress!)
Hi, Andrew here from Headway - I'm really sorry for the confusion here I posted not realising that my colleague had already done so! Entirely my fault.
We didn't want to delete the new post thanks to a comment on here already, so once again sorry for that and many thanks for contributing.
I was 100% in control of my life, then I had a TBI, omg........ talk about life being put in a liquidiser!!! No-one understood because I looked the same, thankfully after 4 months I found Headway🎆❇️ Eureka, I wasn't going mad, there were other people like me, I wasn't the first and by no means, unfortunately I won't be the last ! Thank you, thank you, thank you for being there, and for all the people on here for stopping me feeling insane. My sanity has been restored and my temper eased (sometimes, not always) by all the help on here and in the Headway meetings.
