We've launched a new survey to highlight what impact COVID-19 and the subsequent lockdown has had on adults with brain injury and their carers.
Designed to be completed by brain injury survivors or family members/carers, the survey explores the impact lockdown has had on your mental and physical health, relationships, employment and more.
done, im more frustrated with not being able to change my scenery and having my holiday cancelled (which I have mentioned)
Oh how I miss you swannies
and how wfh has been challenging for me as I forget I have colleagues to help but I think Im dealing with issues on my own and im not part of a team and work have put in lot of rules for people to follow (like stairs ect) when they allow people in which will be difficult for me to follow when / if I am allow back in but we are advised to continue wfh but it has effected my work tasks as I walk around our data centre and we have had a few failures so I have had to advise the skeleton staff in the office how to replace the hardware and how to send it back which has made me frustrated and but the up side is doing training courses remotely has made me more focused
I did feel unwell and the Dr put it down to covid-19 even though I had not gone out but my colleague had work has to go into work as he can't wfh and work did want me to go in but I had to fight with my GP because I hardly used my inhaler but developed a cough so I needed a new one to give me a new inhaler which they did eventually give me because I told them it had expired and when I told work that they retracted their request and my mum for the first time since I moved out 5 years ago got hold of me to check if I was ok which was hard for me to process but she hasn't gotten hold of me since
Survey completed. Sadly, a casual visit, as I find the current tone of contribution to be somewhat judgemental, nannying and swamped with media-driven hysteria. I really don't need that at the moment...well...ever
However, for a lot of us the the limited social interaction is comes as part of having a head injury so emotionally it is much the same. However, it is the practical aspects of life that is is more challenging :
Trying to get a GP consultation is quite difficult even by phone and then the more regular doctors have been replaced by locums.
The majority of outpatient treatments have ceased, as have occupational and physical therapies. My wife needs two pieces of surgery, the likelihood is that these won't happen until March 2021.
Medico Legal cases are being delayed because of delays in home working by staff and access to medical staff.
Generally understanding the new ways of shopping. I constantly see people (myself included) with learning difficulties, cognitive issues struggling with arrows, tapes on floor, navigating around etc. Let alone the fatigue of having to stand in queues. Plus the additional strain on having to plan each shop because now it is so much harder to just "slip out for something"
There is the practicalities for services like hairdressers, libraries etc which affect people in so many different ways.
Plus for many of us we still don't know if we should be self isolating, even then who would do the practical things for us if we can't leave the house ?
