I just asked chatGPT what effects Roaccutane has on the brain. It told me that it causes damage to the hypothalamus, hippocampus, prefrontal cortex and serotonin system, and is commonly linked to depression and anxiety.
SO… how am i supposed to deal with all of this? i’m going through such mental health and brain problems. It’s all just ruined my life. I want to find a way forward but this is just so f***ing difficult to deal with. it’s really ruined my life.

Hi Dann2,Myself, I feel you are better off asking a professional or going to a medical website from a trusted source, not from an AI.
I asked it some questions in an area I know a lot about and it came up with inaccurate info.
I find it tends to report what it finds as 'claimed by experts' but does not have the acumen to vet sources accurately, or to discount widely spread misinformation.
I would talk to Headway and a trusted pharmacist to get info about your medications, your concerns , and what your other options are.
If you want to look it up yourself, try pubmed or Google scholar.
yes, i hear what you’re saying, thanks. i have talked about it with headway before as well as doctors and neurologists, but no-one seems to know anything about it or is willing to talk about it if they do. hence why i experimented asking AI, which replied the same things as i have researched in the past myself, but in about 2seconds. i seems to speak the truth in this case. the dangers of Roaccutane is also being officially reviewed, so it all looks pretty dire in terms of what it’s done to me and my brain health.
Are you still taking it? Have you tried something topical instead, such as adapolene or trentinoin?
If being on roaccutane has caused serious issues for you , that really is hard to take. We usually assume drugs that harm us aren't going to be doled out.
I got put on one that ruined my teeth, and it wasn't really that helpful, if I would have known I wouldn't have used it. I stopped as soon as I figured it out.
I think we need to be a little wary of using AI to look up medical stuff to be honest. It doesn't know individual circumstances and can only feed from the information (or otherwise) that humans give it.
hi, yes, agree the need to be wary, mainly for privacy reasons. However when medical professionals aren’t helping me, and some are actually not believing what i present them with, it can be a useful tool for researching. I just wish i didn’t have to go there in the first place, very distressing.
