Hi folks,

This is a picture of my friends’ cat, Casper.

I actually finished the drawing last weekend but my printer was having an episode and I couldn’t scan the drawing.

Over the next few days I forgot about retrying or I was busy but I’ve remembered now.

I am a bit disappointed with the scan/print quality though.

The actual picture looks much better.

I think I will have to get a better printer.

Hopefully, my next picture will be from a newer printer that does good quality prints :).

Thank you Butter :),

My friend hasn’t actually seen my picture yet.

I met her at an eatery in Locks Heath :).

That’s over half an hour from where I live and even longer depending on bus times.

But I can contact her online and I have drawn, scanned and posted the pic on Facebook messenger but am waiting for her reply.

She is a busy lady.

Then once she has replied I can then go see her and sell it to her :).

I’m sure she will be pleased.

Hi Matt. My printer is relatively new but had so many issues I have to resist chucking it through the window !

Still a stunning drawing though despite printer problem ....really clever stuff m'love !

Hope all's well with you & yours.. Cat x

aww, thank you Cat :).

Yes, we are all ok thank you. Hope you are all ok too.

The printer I had before my current one was a cheap one from ASDA that I had kept by as a back-up.

The printer before that was a Brother inkjet and most of my drawings I scanned and posted on here were from that printer.

Although the printing was good quality, the timing of the printing could change just like that.

Sometimes when you start off a print you would have to wait for at least half an hour for it to register but on some occasions a print could be completed in 5 mins or less!

Mine is an Epsom but it had hissy fit when I installed non-regulation ink cartridges ! My daughter in law is a whizz with tech and "Oh I'll just bypass that, no problem" but it's still not right. I might have to pay up for the dear stuff 🙄.

Good luck with yours m'love.. x

with my Brother inkjet, I used to buy the non-manufacture ink cartridges as well as they are much cheaper.

To get the official black cartridge (say), you pay about £15-£20 but for a non-manufacture one it’ll cost around £5/£6.

Remember though that sometimes the cheap things can be way better than the dear.

I could buy a pair of socks for £5 and have a hole in them the next week but could buy a £2 pair elsewhere that are really durable :).

That is very cool. I drew and painted pre injury, and really should get back into it. I can still create art, but today it's different. It's still good, but I lost some of my creativity. Still it amazes me what I am still able to produce. Maybe sketching might even help improve my creativity and attention, when playing chess. I did a quick sketch of my cat Rizzo once, but she was sleeping. It is difficult to do a still life that constantly moves. Ha Ha. Maybe I could copy a favorite photo.

Thank you, Gr33n :).

I don’t mind drawing a life drawing but if I were to draw an apple on the table, it would be a bit difficult cos the shadow it casts would be slowly moving because of the direction of the sun.

It’s why I prefer to copy from a photo or picture really.

Before my very first bout of surgery on my head in ‘96, I did a lot of drawing at school and was praised for them too.

My writing/drawing hand (right hand) was very steady but after my very first op my hand was so shaky that I couldn’t even hold a pen to write!

It got a bit better in time but after further surgery my handwriting got a bit worse.

Currently, my writing is slow and can be a bit awkward.

But I have not let the difficulty with my hand hinder me from drawing.

Where my hand is no longer as steady as it was, I can’t really draw a line in one stroke of the pencil, I would have to add small strokes to make up a line.

As they say the, I have the eye for art :).

Handwriting. Yes mine is absolutely awful. Physical writing that comes directly from my mind is pretty bad. I think it's the combination of thinking about what I plan to write, and the physical action. I can even copy someone elses handwriting, but it has to be exactly what they wrote. Sometimes it absolutely amazes me. Maybe I missed my chances to become a master forger :)

I am guessing that when you draw, you go slowly, if the shadow the sun casts affects your work. Still drawing slowly is better. I remember drawing still lifes in high school where one drawing or painting would take me 3 school periods. When I first painted post injury, I painted an Arizona landscape, from a car add. It took me hours and hours over several days.

My creativity is slowly coming back though. I think creativity is nothing more than taking chances. Ideas happen first in our mind, We have to judge the decision before it hits paper. Since we both have an eye for art, we know what is good. The problem occurs because we have trouble visualizing the still undrawn decision, and deciding if it's good. Short term memory and creativity have a lot in common. We have to be willing to take chances, not in our mind, but directly on paper. We'll make a lot of mistakes, but nice work is still possible.
