I started off this picture of a sports car for my dad for Father’s day 2023 laster last year because I wanted to take my time on it and plus I don’t usually have a lot of time for drawing now. Weekends are best times for me.
And as I was a little way through drawing this pic I had a request from another feiend about drawing for her. It was that cat, my last drawing I posted.
So I am pretty glad I started the drawing off months before the day rather than leave it til a couple of months before.
Plus also, it was done in colour pencils too and they are harder to use for me.

Hello my friend ! I'm struggling with shoulder & knee injuries since May last year but hoping for the promised treatment later this month. Fingers crossed. I'm otherwise ok.
Lovely seeing your name come up mlove and hope life's being kind to you 😉... Love Cat xx
Hello there! Excuse me while I jump in here... Gosh, you have been waiting such a long time. Hopefully you will be out and about doing some cartwheels in a few weeks time 🙂 x
Hi there Claire ! Thanks for your concern m'dear. I'm considering a private option since my physio doesn't instil much confidence. He said he can't guarantee recovery and my next shot will be the last. After that it'll just need more time ! 😲
I'll give him the benefit of the doubt in a couple of weeks but might have to consider other options as I dread another summer with pain and no mobility 🤨
Ahh... hope the treatment works this time Eileen. Miracles do happen! As you say, there are alternative options for you to explore. Artie and I going well thanks x 🙂🐶
I’ve been drawing all my life but in around 2010 I joined another disabled group and I showed my drawings to the ladies who ran the club.
They were impressed and brought along a friend who is a professional artist and she tutored me on my work and now I sell my work every now and then.
She showed me a book of another artist who drew flowers, fruits and vegetables using colour pencil. Her work was really good and looked better than mine (I think) but I try to draw similar.
It’s like thick layers of colour pencil and I use a burnisher to blend colours together.
You can use an alcohol to blend but I’m not really into using that. I’d rather drink the alcohol haha.
Ooh, interesting techniques for colour pencils Matt, and you got great results with it - alcohol or not!
Just sold a couple of mine on an amateur exhibition, it's good, isn't it? Your drawing beats mine though. I've been looking at botanical watercolour techniques this week, but I'm not sure I have the patience for it..
when I was being brushed on my art by this artist, she mostly helped me out with graphite pencils and a bit of colour pencils as they were my preferred choice.
I like them cos they are simple and clean…. Like me :).
She did try to help me out with watercolours but I couldn’t get the nack of it.
For the paints, she had those… tablet-like paints where you wipe them with a wet brush.
She would coat the paper in water first and then get the paint and add a little to the paper and where the paper was already wet the paint would run which is the effect she was going for.
I couldn’t do that. It was a bit of a timing game with me. I mean adding the paint while the paper is wet and so on.
I go to a craft group on a Friday and it is usually simple stuff we do there but we have done a bit of art there including watercolours and it was so much easier to do there.
For one, they had different style paints. They were in tubes and were already watery and you don’t have to water the paper first.
