Hi, I had two brain injuries (1969 and 1975) both serious and couldn't walk much due to balance issues I did get better after both but recently my lack of balance and vertigo has got worse. I have learnt how to manage it. I am 69 years old now and luckily my wife is my carer and looks after me. Life doesn't stop and have managed to cope and work. Keep going mate you'll get there. If you want to have a chat let me know. Anthony

Hi Felix and welcome to the forum. Can you tell us a bit more about your injuries, and the treatments/surgeries you've had. And are you getting support from professionals and/or family ? Cat x

That's really rotten luck Felix. I know T5 injury can result in wide ranging complex issues and I'm so sorry to hear of your plight. Five+ years has been such a long confinement ; have the specialists given a longer term prognosis or is that still unknown ?

And do family or friends come to spend time with you ? x

I started physio last week for knee and shoulder injuries from 9 months ago and the exercises seem to be making a difference already. And though I was warned yesterday that it'll probably be many months before I'm fully mobile and pain free again, I'm determined to do all I need to get to that point (maybe we can compare notes on progress !).

It's great to hear your physio is giving you more freedom of movement Felix ; I really hope this is your beginning on the road to better mobility and wellbeing.... Xx

Hi Felix, I wonder how you are doing now. My husband had a bicycle collision with a minivan at high speed. He is left with a right side hemiparesis : he has very little control over the right side of his body and every movement is a struggle. It has been 3 years since his accident and through constant physio and excersises he has managed to regain some mobility. It is unlikely it will improve much from here but they do say that maintaining what you have reached it still hugely important and involves constant exercise.

I do hope your situation and ability to move has improved : it is a huge struggle but the only way is forward, keeping going even if you do not see quick results.

Best wishes
