How long did people then receive the back payment from when they began the claim? From what I've read, I thought I may of received that lump sum before I got the award confirmed.

Thank you! I can't believe it. Now my anxiety is through the roof waiting for the letter, to see what I have been awarded, or when I'll get my back payment

Merry Xmas, the stress will subside and all will be good.

"Whew!" I can still fell the stressful anticipation. I live in the states: It took two years and 11 months, before I sat in front of a judge who made my determination in less than 90 seconds to award me disability payments. While sitting behind my three-inch pile of medical records, he said, "This case should never have made it to my court. She should have been awarded benefits immediately." If I hadn't had a partner, I would surely have become homeless while waiting. It happens more often than not in the U.S. It's disgraceful. I am trying to volunteer for disability reform, but I am very pessimistic about ANY possibility of change.

Congrats. After you have had the award confirmed, the back amount doesn't usually take long.

That's wonderful news!

Going forward, keep a log book of every appointment, doc, test, rehab log, dates of assessments and awards, copied of letters, names, phone numbers, addresses, calla to Headway, meetings or groups you go to , etc

If you get reassessed, you'll need it.

Excellent advice. Evidence is always key. Also if you have anything that bothers you that others will not take seriously or otherwise ignore, keep pushing and record your efforts. If you ever need to bring those issues to the fore then nobody can say that nothing had been said before.

You should get it soon,I had a reassessment a couple of months back and received the back payment in my bank before the letter .I phoned PIP to find out what the money was for she was very helpful you could do that just phone them and ask when the back payment will go in and how much it is.

after came out of hospital was assessed by DWP. Doctor to see if I was capable of work. Asked my name, date of birth & refused to sign my medical to go back to skydiving?!! Lost incapacity obviously. A year later went before appeal panel. Needed 7 points for long term benefits. Was awarded 13!!! Mums gone and am afraid to apply for PP.I or anything else. Social worker came 3 days after mums death so I could change carer from her to elder brother. Also needed a wet room as can’t get into bath to shower. Mentioned inheritance would need help coming off benefits, wet room was apparently declined?! 8 months on bro. Has fitted me a shower cubicle, bathroom is like building sight but at least I can shower daily!!!
