Hi I’m new to the group, I had a tumour removed from my Pineal gland in November 2020 since then I have had a VP shunt implanted in April this year because where the tumour was removed a cyst decided to grow which blocked the flow of csf I still have ongoing symptoms like dizziness ,headaches I was hoping that having the shunt put it that it would be the end of it and I can start having some sort of normal life, I see a lot of other people on here are experienced the same sort of systems it’s very frustrating at the best of times

Welcome. You'll be able to learn something here.
Hi there. I have an AVM which blocks the flow of CSF in the same way. I've had a VP Shunt for this since I was 14. I agree, v frustrating.
I’ve got a shunt and in the early years it blocked. The last time it blocked I was in Manchester about 20 yrs ago and it couldn’t be removed so it was “piggy backed”.
I had a cluster of aneurysms that were removed a few yrs later in Sheffield using Stereotactic Radiotherapy.
Doctors said I might not need the shunt but it’s constantly on my mind about it blocking.
Should I worry?
Please try not to worry. You would know if it blocked, I'm sure. My understanding is that getting a blockage in a Shunt is really common though especially after a period of time. But then on saying that my current Shunt was placed in 2007 and is still going strong
