3rd ventriculostomy after multiple vp shunt fails

Any know if its an option to go back to 3rd ventriculostomy after a having multiple vp shunt failures?

It will be a very individual assessment of whether it’s possible to have a 3rd ventriculostomy and not dependent on whether you have had a VP Shunt previously. It will depend on your own anatomy and whether there is any scarring etc.

Your post saddens me. I am awaiting pressure testing prior to having a shunt fitted. I have my fingers crossed that the shunt is successful. I have read about other available treatments but don’t know much more about them. I feel you need to speak to your neurosurgeon to get the answers.

I have developed hydrocephalus (a build up of fluid on the brain) since my injury 20 months ago.

when you are facnb a dhunt and sime e posts a out several fails it doesn’t exactly fill you with happiness
