I think I mentioned on here that my doctor sent me for an MRI..not what I was pushing for but anyway the results are in. I couldn't understand most of what he said but the words EXTENSIVE DAMAGE to muscles and L1 L2 and L5 nerves is why I have foot drop.i.n Layman's terms my lower back and left leg are knackered forever...I've not pushed again for him to look at the old skull fracture I have on the left side of my forehead as he is clueless when it comes to BI what I have done is become a member of Headway local to me I'm following their advice n guidence for when I'm ready to go at him again about my brain Injury..the road accident I don't remember defo did more damage than I've let on..the discoveries continue.👍I hope this reads right 🤣x

At least you have some answers, even if they were not what you wanted. I think the numbers refer to vertebrae down your spine - an indication as to where the nerves got trapped or damaged.

My SiL suffered 2 collapsed vertebrae about 5-6 years ago and his left leg and foot are nothing more than a stump on which to lean when standing or walking - with the aid of a stick. Most of the time he spent in a wheel chair, but thankfully therapy has been provided and is having a small impact.

Getting answers out of GP's is almost impossible - because they are a jack of all trades and master of none - in health terms. Getting consultants and surgeons to answer can also be hard work. 2 years ago I underwent extensive OHS (which apprently was successful), but post op I suffered a stroke, sepsis, a virus that ate away my upper lip and bit of tongue. I had to be shocked back to 'life'/ normal rythm in 2 weeks than I would've eaten in 3 months. I was in a coma for 6 weeks and woke up with complete muscle wastage and several other complications.

2 years on, I still do not have all the answers, and I never will, as the Maxi Facial consultant said, I'd suffered complications that spanned 4 different areas of specialty which means each consultant would only consider 'their area of expertise' - mean things would be missed. And so it has come to be.

Cognition & memory are more of a lottery than long learned activites. I can no longer read printed material and type like I'm dyslexic - I make so many spelling and grammatical errors.

This response has taken over 45 minutes so far. I still look for answers when I remember the questions and my wife tells me which haven't been answered. Truth be, even when I'm told I forget. But I no longer worry about any of it now - I wake up and do what ever I'm told to do, or what I remember I can do. I can watch the same film 5 days of the week, because I forget I've watched it the day before 😆

Hopefully, you will be able to come to terms with all your injuries and disabilities, but don't be afraid to keep pushing for answers - and do not always expect an answer to match the question. It's amazing how the body and brain work and how much energy is used up just thinking or talking - as much as a brisk walk is my comparison. So, when I'm completely fatigued - it's not necessarily because I've been physically active - I may have done some reading and replying to a post, or I may have engaged in a conversation with some one.

Even chewing and swallowing food is quite a demanding task. But good luck in your recovery and getting answers.

Thankyou for your comment I've always known I had a dodgy leg once the pot came off a year after my accident..but I just got in with it it's only now due to technology of today that I've discovered the extent of the damage to my leg which is shocking..I forget more than I can remember when listening to anyone especially the doctor😂🙈.my BI will always be with me so there's not a chance of me not pushing for the answers because I know with the right guidence from HEADWAY I will get the test on my brain that I'm sure of..(stubborn as they come me)I aint budging lol..I'm sorry to read about your own trauma it must of been horrific for ya and I hope you are as well as you can be I too suffer with fatigue daily it can come on at anytime for me without warning so I know the struggle..good luck to yourself with your own recovery and your future👍
