First of all, I hope it's OK to ask for 'reviews' of places.
I was talking to my wife's trauma consultant today and discussing next steps - not immediate but in the next weeks/months. She is likely to move to a rehab setting rather than a hospital facility and one if the possible places mentioned was Steps in Sheffield. I can't ask for views on the other places as I don't know their names yet but I was wondering if anyone here had experience, either themselves or a relative, of Steps?

Hi I’m from Sheffield and not sure if you have heard of SCBRIT it’s a long term brain injury center here to help with brain injury. I have been a few times over many years this year I went back to see them. They should be able to help you.
We're not actually in Sheffield (or Yorkshire). We're in East Cheshire where there are very few rehab facilities so people can be placed in nearby facilities. I'd obviously like my wife to be closer but the main thing is that she's in the right place for her rehab/recovery.
(and I don't mind the drive over from this side of Cheshire to Sheffield (or motorbike in the summer))
Hello
I have only just seen your post. STEPS was proposed for my son. I am a Clinical Psychologist so made some enquiries amongst colleagues on Neuropsychology. The feedback there was good and indeed some had 'lost' colleagues to STEPS. The distance would have been an issue for us as we live in Mid Wales but if it had come off I would have managed that my staying in Sheffield.
STEP did not have a bed at the time but I visited all the places the team suggested for my son. They were receptive and it was so informative. I came away with firm feelings on which place I thought was best for him. May I suggest visits if you have not already done so. It is such a big decision.
Sadly my son has deteriorated and is not well enough to move or benefit from rehab. I wish you all the best and hope this is a good outcome for your wife and your family.
